New Value Institute

Artistic intelligence for value systems, legitimacy, and institutional futures

New Value Institute is an original, hybrid framework initiated by Jingyi Wang, with value as its primary field of inquiry and artistic practice as its prototype, method, and testing ground. Practice-based and research-driven, NVI extracts mechanisms and protocols from live artistic situations, developing research on how value is judged, negotiated, legitimised, governed, and transformed across art, the humanities, technology, and economy.

About

New Value Institute is an artistic intelligence institute and value architecture lab initiated by Jingyi Wang. It treats Live Art as a way of constructing temporary institutions: rule-bound situations where value can be tested through judgment, negotiation, exchange, contestation, commitment, governance, and legitimacy. NVI grows from an expanding body of artistic work. Post Capitalistic Auction, JUDGE ME, Voice to Voice, and The Butterfly Entangled Effect are key background projects within this trajectory, while the institute continues to develop new works, labs, protocols, writings, archives, and collaborations across art, technology, economic systems, governance, the humanities, and institutional life.

Structure

From artistic practice to mechanisms, protocols, and theory.

NVI works through three connected layers. Works create live testing grounds where value systems become observable. Labs extract the mechanisms and protocols within these situations. Research gives these methods theoretical, methodological, and public language.

Works

Public experiments, artworks, archives, and institutional models.

Labs

Research environments for protocols, prototypes, public experiments, and institutional methods.

Research & Writing

Essays, protocol papers, case studies, working papers, dialogues, and reports.
